Ceiling access, barrier integrity, penetrations, firestopping, dust release, and exposed systems can create risk outside the visible work area.
Air, dust, water & vibration
Ventilation, pressure relationships, debris control, moisture exposure, vibration, noise, and cleaning discipline determine whether the project remains compatible with occupied care.
Egress & fire protection
Corridor width, exits, alarms, sprinklers, smoke barriers, compartmentation, and responder access must remain protected or covered by interim measures.
Contractor movement
Access routes, staging, waste movement, material delivery, PPE expectations, and work-hour controls shape what patients and surveyors can actually see.
Utility interruption
Water, power, medical gas, HVAC, fire alarm, suppression, and communication interruptions require coordination before the field condition changes.
Field condition

PCRA

Set the required precautions for dust, containment, airflow, cleaning, water exposure, patient risk, occupied-care adjacencies, and environmental hazards.
ILSM
Set interim measures when exits, fire alarm, sprinklers, smoke barriers, compartmentation, hazardous conditions, or responder access are impaired.
PCRA, ICRA, and ILSM live in the same governance package. Petronus reviews whether those decisions are made before work begins, verified during active work, and closed with evidence before normal operation resumes.

Evidence reviewed: ICRA, containment plan, barrier checks, airflow or dust-control documentation, cleaning expectations, rounding notes, and issue correction.
Life Safety
Were interim protections identified and maintained?
Evidence reviewed: ILSM assessment, impairment records, fire watch documentation, egress controls, rated-barrier protection, signage, and responder-access coordination.
Active Work
Were approved controls verified during active work?
Evidence reviewed: daily field observations, responsible-party notes, escalation records, contractor correction, housekeeping, access control, and changes to the approved plan.
Closeout
Can the organization defend acceptance back into normal operations?
Evidence reviewed: final inspection, cleaning verification, above-ceiling closure, deficiency correction, permit closeout, unresolved risk decisions, and leadership-ready summary.
Closeout Acceptance
Construction risk closes when the organization can defend the condition it accepts back into normal care operations.
Inspect
Confirm the final condition of the space, above-ceiling work, barriers, life safety features, utilities, cleanliness, and affected clinical pathways.
Correct
Resolve deficiencies, incomplete documentation, open impairments, failed controls, contractor punch-list items, and conditions that do not match the approved risk record.
Accept
Return the affected area to normal operations with a defensible project record that connects PCRA, ICRA, ILSM, field verification, and closeout evidence.
